But that all changes with one teacher who sees her for the smart, creative girl that she is. As a military family, she has switched schools so often that she has been able to hide the fact that she can’t read from her teachers and is instead labeled a troublemaker. I had heard such wonderful things about it though so I decided to read it myself and I’m so glad I did! Fish in a Tree tells the story of Ally, who is incredibly smart but struggles to read and write.
